What Keeps You Strong?

Here's another more personal question for my friends: What keeps you strong?  What life lessons have you learned, lessons about yourself, that help you to be a productive woman? What fuels you?

The Proper Role of the Church in Civil Discourse.

Here is a question for you:  What is the proper role of the Church and/or the pulpit in civil matters?

Why a Crag??

Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,
"Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame."

Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,

"The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone," and
"A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense."

In Scripture, Jesus is called our Rock of Refuge, to which we may continually come.  Psalm 51 says that God desires that we have Truth in our innermost 'knowing,' and in that hidden place He will make us to know Wisdom. Often, finding truth, is a jagged, painful journey.  Discovering wisdom is not an easy thing.
But the search is worth its painful efforts, when once a treasure has been found.

I am a woman who has found the foundation of truth in Jesus Christ.  In 1981, after years of dark living and pain, I heard the Gospel preached.  From the balcony of a Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina, I asked God to save my wretched life.  The first understanding that I had was that Jesus is Real, that the historical figure that I had heard about all of my life is alive!  In fact, He is the Creator of the Universe, and, understanding this, put all things right.

Since that time, I have immersed myself in God's truth, the Holy Bible.

I have also always been a student of history, with my favorite periods of history being Modern European and American History.  This was my minor at the University of South Carolina.  We find ourselves, as Americans, at this very hour, at a crossroads.  Many are grasping for truths.  In this blog, I will share with you my thoughts about how the truths of the Bible intersect with the conflicts in which we now find ourselves in our nation.

I love America!  I cherish the truths upon which our nation was founded....."We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness-that to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the Consent of the Governed."  Second Continental Congress, The Declaration of Independence.  July 4, 1776.

This will be a blog that searches for truths that will stand the test of time.  This will be a blog about politics, history and Scripture, a blog that deals with the conflicts, problems and issues of our times.  I value your imput and the opinions of  those who might disagree with me.  I hope that we can have a civil discourse without making personal insults, without calling names.

I really hope to find some like-minded, and non-like minded, folks on this blog with whom and from whom I can discuss, learn and put into action thoughts that will help our nation to find God again, to find truth again and to find Civil Discourse.

On the journey to the High Places,
